The Blessing of the High Sun

The Blessing of the High Sun

A Midsummer Canticle of Unitas Panthea

Ave, O Blessed Gods, Immortal Ones who sustain the worlds, whose gifts are seen in the heavens above, upon the fruitful earth below, and within the hidden depths from which life rises anew.

On this sacred Midsummer Day, when the Sun stands at the summit of its yearly journey, we lift our hearts in gratitude and rejoice in the abundance of existence.

Hail to mighty Helios, Radiant Charioteer of Heaven, whose golden light awakens every field, whose warmth ripens every fruit, and whose splendor reveals the beauty of the world. May your holy rays illumine our minds and strengthen our spirits.

Hail to Holy Mother Vestaria, Eternal Flame of the Hearth, Gentle Keeper of peace and sacred hospitality, Center of every home and every holy gathering. As your fire never dies, may love never depart from our households, and may our hearts remain faithful to Gods, ancestors, and one another.

Hail to joyful Dionysus, Lord Bacchus, Friend of laughter and sacred delight, Bearer of the vine and liberator of the soul. Teach us to celebrate the gift of life, to feast without greed, to sing without shame, and to embrace one another with generous hearts.

Hail to great Demeter, Golden Mother of grain and growing things, whose blessings clothe the earth in abundance. Through your kindness the fields are made fruitful, the gardens flourish, and every table is supplied with goodness. May none know hunger beneath your care.

Hail to wild Pan, beloved Faunus, Goat-footed Lord of forests and hills, whose pipes are heard in the rustling leaves and whose laughter echoes among the mountains. May we remember that we, too, belong to nature, and may we rejoice in the sacred wonder of simply being alive.

Hail to bright Apollo, Master of harmony and healing, whose lyre gives beauty to the world. Grant us wisdom, grant us truth, and let our lives become songs of virtue.

Hail to noble Artemis, Guardian of beasts and moonlit groves, Protector of the wild places. Preserve the beauty of the earth, and teach us reverence for every living thing.

Hail to lovely Aphrodite, Born from the sea's white foam, Mistress of love and delight. May beauty dwell among us, and may kindness bloom like flowers in summer.

Hail to swift Hermes, Guide of travelers and faithful friend. Bless every road, every meeting, and every bond of fellowship.

Hail to mighty Zeus, Father of Gods and Men, whose justice upholds the order of heaven. May your blessing rest upon our communities, and may righteousness flourish among humankind.

Hail to gracious Persephone, Flower of Spring and Queen of Mysteries, who walks among the living in this season of light. May we cherish every blessing, remembering that all things move in sacred cycles.

Hail to Hades Plouton, Keeper of Hidden Riches and Guardian of the Blessed Ancestors. May those who came before us receive our remembrance with joy, and may their wisdom continue to guide us.

And to the honored Ancestors, whose blood and memory dwell within us, we offer gratitude and praise.

For Heaven, Earth, and the Deep are not divided, but joined together in one sacred household.

Therefore, on this Feast of the High Sun, we give thanks for life.

We give thanks for friendship.

We give thanks for beauty.

We give thanks for the Earth.

We give thanks for the Gods.

And as the evening fires are kindled and the stars appear one by one, may the blessings of the Immortals remain with us, through summer and winter, through joy and sorrow, through life and beyond life.

Ave to the Deathless Gods.

Ave to the Ancestors.

Ave to the Sacred Earth.

Blessed be Midsummer.

Ave.
