By This Hearth, You Are Safe
By This Hearth, You Are Safe
A Prayer of Shelter and Return
By this hearth, where fire twists and climbs,
a salamander dances through the flame—
guardian of home, protector of all who dwell.
Each scale a promise, each spark a vow:
here, no harm may tread;
here, hearts are shielded;
and every shadow is turned to light.
Above, a feather arcs—
white as dawn, steadfast as devotion—
the pelican’s gift of grace and return.
It bears the prayers of wandering souls,
that every beloved find their way back,
every footstep be guided and sure,
every hand be led home through darkness and storm.
Below, the hearth‑glow deepens—
rooted in earth, kissing stone and wood.
Laurel twines in quiet blessing,
its whisper a promise of favor.
Peace settles here,
soft as dew upon the morning grass,
lasting as embers beneath night’s veil.
Hang this sigil by the threshold—
on the way out, on the way in—
and let it speak in silent flame:
Hic focus custoditur; domus haec a deis protecta est; pax intra.
Here the hearth is guarded.
This home is protected by the gods.
Peace abides within.
Enter, depart, wander, return—
all paths bend back to this sacred fire.
All journeys fold into its blessing.
All hearts find their way home again.
