The Vestarian Creed: I Am the Living Hearth

The Vestarian Creed: I Am the Living Hearth

The Creed

I am the living hearth,
ember of the eternal flame.

Body, mind, and spirit—
one fire, undivided.

My heart is Ma'at's throne,
my conscience her scales,
my life her witness.

---

I tend the triple hearth:
the flame within,
the flame of home,
the flame that lights the world.

---

I walk the path of ancestors,
carrying their flame forward.
I do not forget those who came before;
their virtues live in me.

I honor the gods with daily devotion,
offering first-fruits and faithful service.
Dō ut dēs—I give that they may give,
keeping the peace between earth and heaven.

I kindle the flame in the young,
teaching the sacred way,
that the hearth may never grow cold,
and the path never be lost.

---

I serve the household with loyalty,
the community with justice,
the city with honor.

I guard the weak,
speak truth,
refuse corruption,
and make restitution when I fail.

---

The common flame is mine to tend—
not to consume, but to sustain.
I show up.
I serve.
I learn.
I teach.
I guard the peace.
I protect the vulnerable.

---

I walk the seven ways:
Truth in my words,
Justice in my deeds,
Balance in my soul,
Order in my home,
Harmony in my community,
Reciprocity in all exchange,
Propriety in sacred and profane.

---

When I stumble, I rise.
When I harm, I restore.
When I stray, I return.
Amendment of life is my perpetual vow.

At death, my heart will be weighed—
not only for evil avoided,
but for good accomplished.

---

May the hearth within
mirror the hearth above.

May I walk in Ma'at,
that home, city, and cosmos
may be ordered in flame and peace.

Via Deorum. Iter Maiorum. Transmissio Flammae.
Way of Gods. Path of Ancestors. Transmission of Flame.

I am the living hearth.
The flame is mine to carry.
The flame is mine to pass.

The flame never dies.

---

So I pledge by the eternal fire.
So may it be accomplished.
